Blackouts have long been a problem in Cuba but they have been exacerbated this year by an ongoing oil blockade imposed by the U.S.
The blockade has strangled the island’s oil supply, forcing power plants to suspend service or even shut down altogether, plunging neighborhoods into darkness nearly every day.
